Becoming a Parish Councillor is a great way to make a real difference in your area. Whether you’re interested in local services, community events, the environment, or improving facilities for residents, your involvement can have a lasting impact.
What Does a Parish Councillor Do?
Parish Councillors are the most local level of government and work closely with residents to address community issues, support local initiatives, and represent public interests. Some typical responsibilities include:

Helping to develop local policies and priorities

No specific qualifications are required—just a commitment to your community and a willingness to get involved.
Who Can Apply?
You must be:

Aged 18 or over
-
A British citizen, or a citizen of the Commonwealth or the European Union

A local elector or have lived, worked, or owned property in or within 3 miles of Brinsley for at least 12 months
